Mindset is powerful.
It’s also one of the easiest ways to accidentally gaslight yourself.
Because if you’ve learned how to “manage your mind,” you’ve probably had this moment:
Wait…
Am I supposed to clean up my thinking here?
Or is something in my life actually not working?
And that’s where things get tricky.Because it’s not always obvious.
When I was going through one of the hardest seasons of my life (triple grief, 10/10 would not recommend), I had to figure this out in real time.
So I made a deal with myself:
A shitty day has to earn its spot on my calendar.
Meaning…
I look at the math. (Even when I really don't want to)
I look at what I’m spiraling about. (Even when I'm afraid that will make it worse)
And I get curious instead of immediately reacting. (Even when the urge is loud)Not always easy.
But it gives me an anchor to lean into when friction is high.
Because here’s what I see happen all the time:
Women go out into the world doing all the things and when they meet friction, it's so easy to assume:
“Something has gone wrong.”
And then…
We assume it must be us.
We overanalyze.
We people-please.
We overthink.
We overlearn.
We over work.
We try to fix everything.
We override ourselves.And before we know it, we’re making decisions from fear (although in the moment it doesn’t feel like fear, it feels like truth)
Which just reinforces the belief that something is wrong.It’s like letting a toddler drive the car while you’re in the backseat.
It’s gonna get messy. Fast. 😂Self-leadership isn’t just mindset,
It’s also:
→ knowing when to clean up your thinking
→ knowing when something actually needs to change
→ knowing how to feel what you’re feeling without abandoning yourselfAnd most people have never been taught how to tell the difference.
